CEF News | Spring 2022

A new year and a new season are upon us, and we would be remiss not to share all the wonderful happenings with the Cedarburg Education Foundation (CEF) in 2021 and what’s to come in 2022.

We want to thank all the support of our community and sponsors for the success of the 2021 Bulldog Gala that was hosted at The Barn at The Bog in November. A big thank you to our presenting sponsor Olsen’s Piggly Wiggly and our event sponsors Vollrath Company, Riteway, and the Orthopedic Hospital of Wisconsin.

With the kindness of the community, we were able to raise a new record of $150,000, a third of that will go toward Fund-A-Need and the optimum benefit for the children of the community. CEF provides grants and additional funding for special projects geared toward enhancing academic achievement.  Grants support curriculum innovation and the equipment and materials to implement that curriculum, and fund special projects for School District students and teachers.

Congratulations to our 2021 CEF Award winners, who through their actions and contributions, have embodied the spirit of CEF.

We also have exciting news that we hit our endowment goal of $500,000. The endowment is in place to ensure that CEF can continue to operate during unexpected events like a pandemic or lower contribution years. The endowment is also invested, so we can watch it grow.

Our Fund-A-Need funded a new large-format kiln, a laser engraver, and a Spectra chrome plating system that will be found in the Innovation Center at Cedarburg High School. Thank you to the Fund-A-Need sponsors – Newman Chevrolet, Neuman Homes, Beyer’s True Value, Baker Cheese, Northwestern Mutual, North Shore Gymnastics, Bella Lei Salon, Port Washington State Bank, CG Schmidt, Zuern and the numerous donors in attendance at the gala.

Laser Engraver: The Universal laser engraver will impact and be available to all 1,100 CHS students through the Makerspace.

Kiln: The Skutt automatic kiln will impact approximately 200 CHS art students per semester taking Ceramics, Advanced Ceramics, and Sculpture.

Spectra Plating System: The Spectra chrome plating system will impact and be available to all students taking any Tech Ed., Engineering, Art & Design courses along with all 1,100 CHS students through the Makerspace.

K-12 Maker Bundles: Bundles will provide additional acrylic, vinyl, and filament consumable materials for continued use of past investments in the Makerspaces across the district.

Makerspace Fund-A-Need

The Cedarburg Education Foundation is pleased to kick off our 2019-2020 Fund A Need Campaign. Over the next year, our goal is to raise $135,000 towards the funding of equipment and supplies for Makerspaces at each of the schools in the Cedarburg School District (CSD).

Maker-spaces are one of the building blocks towards innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) experiences for the children within the district which is a key strategic initiative for the CSD. These learning areas promote an entrepreneurial mind-set, problem-solving and teamwork.

Examples of equipment that funds will be utilized for include:

  • Fanuc Robots – Grades 9-12 ($40,000)
  • Vinyl Cutters– Grades 6-12 ($1,000)
  • Green Screens – Grades K-12 ($500)
  • Tool Kits – Grades 3-12 ($100)

CEF has kicked off this campaign at our 2019 Dream Big Gala on November 9th, 2019. We will be conducting a Fund-A-Need campaign at the giving levels of $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $100, and $25.

Any company or individual interested in this campaign can donate through our website
and will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Since this campaign will be over the next year, a planned giving option (over the next 2
years) is available to all potential donors. Please contact us at cef4kids.org to further discuss options.

Large donations of over $15,000 will be given naming right consideration for the school of their choice.

Thank you for your support,
Board of Directors, Cedarburg Education Foundation
